The Right Path

I opened my computer and accidentally provided a spiritual analogy for this post. I was trying to brighten the screen and thought my computer was broken. Then I realized I was hitting the volume up button. (Embarrassing.) As soon as I realized what I was doing, I hit the brighten button…and there was light! Actually having true light matters. John 8:12b says,

“I am the light of the world.

Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness,

but will have the light of life.”

“…will not walk in darkness…”

What a relief that Jesus only leads in light. We may not feel like we know which way to go or what to do, but if we have heeded Matthew 16:24 to first deny self and take up our cross, then we can follow Him and not fear darkness. Christ only leads in victory, even if that means going through hard trials.

He also only leads in truth, and that’s why we need His Word to be sure we are lined up with His instruction. Because 2 Corinthians 11:14b warns, “…for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.” So there are those who think they are not in darkness, who really are. Not all who call themselves Christians are truly followers of Christ, and will have an aversion to those who do follow Him in the light. But there is precious fellowship for those who humble themselves to the true Gospel, as we see in 1 John 1:7,

“But if we walk in the light,

as he is in the light,

we have fellowship with one another,

and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.”

Lord, thank You for taking us out of darkness and leading us in true light!
