The One Who Leads Us Is Kind
Years ago I got to see my niece receive her first horse. Animals can fall into unkind hands, but in this case I got to witness a beautiful creature enter the gate to be led around his new surroundings by one who adored him and would be watching out for his every need even when trouble would come. What a blessing for this animal to land under the care of one who is kind.
We’ve all experienced the ill effects of unkindness. Whether it’s the sting coming at us, or the ramifications of our being unkind to another, unkindness stinks. It’s kindness we want coming at us, and it’s kindness we want to deliver. What a relief to remember that God is kind. The King of glory who rules over all and has power like no other, rules in kindness.
Our Ruler and Caretaker receives us as the apple of His eye. We enter through Christ in order to be led to pasture in His faithfulness. He leads us and cares for us with a kindness humans just can’t fabricate. It’s only through Him, that we can bear the fruit of pure kindness.
Proverbs 11:17 says,
“A man who is kind benefits himself,
but a cruel man hurts himself.”
When life gets unkind, cry out to the One who is only kind continually and is waiting for an opportunity to show Himself as such. Psalm 92:2 reminds us to declare His lovingkindness every morning, so that by evening we are living testimonies of His faithfulness.
“Because Your lovingkindness is better than life,
My lips shall praise You.”
Psalm 63:3
Lord, help us to spot and appreciate Your kindness and minister it to others.
