Politics Aside

Yesterday a young husband and father was assassinated for his politics, and martyred for his stand for Biblical truth. Unlike most politicians and news sources, Charlie Kirk had a way of engaging with others – whether they agreed or disagreed – allowing for actual dialogue, especially with the next generation. What an example.

This shooting was a scheme of hell. But God has Satan on a leash, so as I pray for Charlie’s family, I pray this death will cause more territory to be taken from the enemy, and advance God’s Kingdom in ways we couldn’t imagine.

We don’t have to agree politically, but if we have truly died with Christ in spiritual regeneration, we cannot waiver from the truth of the Bible. Don’t follow culture that flows this way one day and that way another. Stand in the stability of the One who created all that is. We are all going to die one day, we are all sinners in need of a Savior, and no one will find eternal life except through salvation in Christ.

May this horror fire believers up to pray and love others by speaking truth in love. May we be passionate and bold like Charlie Kirk. May we be willing to stand against evil; to die for the cause of Christ. May we be spurred on by these words from Charles Spurgeon,

“Oh, my brothers and sisters in Christ,

if sinners will be damned,

at least let them leap to hell over our bodies;

and if they will perish,

let them perish with our arms about their knees,

imploring them to stay, and not madly to destroy themselves.

If hell must be filled,

at least let it be filled in the teeth of our exertions,

and let not one go there unwarned and unprayed for.”
