The Appreciation Of His Majesty
Years ago I was watching the French Open between the number one and two players in the world. Nadal, the clay court phenom won per usual, but Djokovic played a great match. As he received his second place trophy – a trophy no one shows up in hopes of winning – I’m sure he was disappointed. But the applause of the crowd wouldn’t stop. In fact, it just kept increasing until Djokovic was moved and teared up. I love heartwarming moments like that. And here’s our spiritual analogy.
How often do we spend time in such appreciation for the Lord in all His majesty, that we can hardly stop, and it actually moves Him. Imagine God being blessed by our thunderous applause! I don’t mean just emotional jumping around praise. I mean heartfelt appreciation for all He is and all He has done. I want to live that way and thank Him for the conviction this gives me. He doesn’t need our accolades. He is blessed when we are in truth that moves us to applaud Him. He is worthy of all honor, glory, and praise. He knows we are safest when we are in that right mind.
There’s an old Sandi Patty song that opens with the following words:
“The sky shall unfold
Preparing His entrance
The stars shall applaud Him
With thunders of praise
The sweet light in His eyes
Shall enhance those awaiting
And we shall behold Him
Then face to face.”
Lord, you deserve it! Please forgive me for giving you the golf clap from my heart when you deserve the thunderous stadium applause.
