Happy To!
David knew what being a shepherd was all about. He said in Psalm 23:1,
“The LORD is my shepherd;
I shall not want.”
The Psalm goes on to boast in our God. He is good and He is always with us. A good shepherd takes joy in caring for his sheep. Who our shepherd is matters. Sheep under a good shepherd are secure and should be grateful to be in the arms of a loving and wise caretaker. Praise God if Christ is yours!
In the latest movie of The Great Gatsby, when the character Nick is asked to do a favor, he says, “Happy to. Happy to do it.” I love that attitude, and I want to have it toward God and His commands. Do we realize this is our Father’s attitude toward His children? When we pray according to God’s will for His glory, even asking for wisdom in areas we’re not sure what His will might be, we can hear Him say – Happy to! Happy to do it. Happy means blessed, and it blesses Him when we go to Him with our everything.
“For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro
throughout the whole earth,
to give strong support
to those whose heart
is blameless toward him.”
2 Chronicles 16:9a
Jesus, thank You, for being happy to suffer to make me blameless and right in the eyes of God. Only You! You are happy to love us, hear us, lead us, hold us, use us, teach us, tell us, show us, correct us, and guide us.
Lord, we can ask - would You handle this situation? And we can imagine You saying - Happy to! All for Your great glory.
