God is Faithful

"Your faithfulness endures to all generations;

you have established the earth, and it stands fast.”

Psalm 119:90

Let’s continue with our spiritual analogies from these Canadian Geese. Day after day, night after night, rain or shine, cold or heat, the female goose remained faithfully sitting on the nest. I became concerned about how long she was there, until I learned that geese sit on their nests for about a month.

She was faithful to the end. God has given animals incredible instincts that override comfort and convenience. As humans we sometimes give ourselves too many choices, and bail when something gets uncomfortable, inconvenient, or simply not what we want. But in Christ, we are given the fruit of the Spirit which includes faithfulness. Like this mother goose, we can be a part of things coming to fruition, rather than abandoning which leads to futility.

The goose is such an example of how we should live, and also a great representation of the One who will never leave us or forsake us. People will let us down, but God never will. It’s one of the many reasons we worship Him, and not each other. Deuteronomy 32:11 describes God like an eagle who stirs up the nest, hovers over its young, spreads out its wings, takes them up and carries them. Just think of what He endured so that we could be born into His Kingdom.

Lord, keep us faithful to Your plan as You are faithful. Thank You that you have provided us with the attribute of faithfulness through the power of Your Holy Spirit. Help us to walk in it.

“But the Lord is faithful,
who will establish you and guard you from the evil one.”
1 Corinthians 1:9
