Exploration of Glorious Things
In The Truman Show, Truman says he wants to be an explorer. To keep him from realizing he’s actually living his life contained on a movie set, the teacher tells him that he’s too late. The world has already been explored.
I think that’s similar to Satan’s lie to keep us from getting into Scripture that sets us free and allows us to really live. Don’t think for one minute that you don’t need to study God’s Word because it’s already been studied. Hebrews 4:12 says the Word of God is living and active. It can’t be exhausted and there are always treasures to unearth.
There are theologians who aren’t even saved. But by the power of the Holy Spirit who teaches us, the simplest among us can see and understand treasures from God’s Word. Scripture is thrilling. Paul said that through the Lord, his ministry of the Gospel was “…to make the word of God fully known, the mystery hidden for ages and generations but now revealed to his saints.” Colossians 1:25b-26
Consider these verses to get us excited about diving into God’s Word:
Speaking of Jesus,
“I will open my mouth in parables;
I will utter what has been hidden since the foundation of the world.”
Matthew 13:35b
“Truly, your God is God of gods and Lord of kings,
and a revealer of mysteries…”
from Daniel 2:47
“Call to me and I will answer you,
and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.”
Jeremiah 33:3
As we set out to explore God’s glorious Word, lets pray Psalm 119:18,
“Open my eyes, that I may behold
wondrous things out of your law.”
