Clearing The Path

My precious dog Tyson is almost 19 years old. As the vet says - he’s kicking it! Though his health is great for his age, he struggles with sight and hearing. At 63 I’m right there with him. So walking him today, I saw a big stick that had fallen on the sidewalk that he might have walked into. As I picked it up and tossed it to the side, a precious reality came to mind.

This is what our great God is doing for us. He is watchful over His own. Psalm 139:3 says,

“You search out my path and my lying down

and are acquainted with all my ways.”

There are such blessings in His ways. Look at Psalm 119:165,

“Great peace have those who love your law;

nothing can make them stumble.”

If we see an obstacle, we’re told to remove it. (See Hebrews 12:1.) But if we could see into the spirit realm, we would be amazed at all God is doing to clear our paths of things we don’t even realize are there, while we often wonder if He’s even paying attention.

And it’s not just about removing what’s in our way. I heard this recently on The Bible Recap. In Psalm 97:11, we see that even in the most treacherous paths, God is planting seeds along the journey,

“Light is sown for the righteous,

and joy for the upright in heart.”

As we journey, our God is clearing our path and planting light and joy!

Lord, thank You for all You are doing even and especially when we imagine that You are not even moving. Thank You that You are for us; guiding us in the way we should go.
