A Treasured King
As Solomon set out to build the more permanent structure that would be the Temple of his God (and ours), he wrote a letter to Hiram king of Tyre who had known his father David. His letter let Hiram know what he needed, and what he would pay. 2 Chronicles 2:11 says,
“Then Hiram the king of Tyre answered in a letter that he sent to Solomon,
‘Because the LORD loves his people,
he has made you king over them.’”
What a dear endorsement! While encouraging to Solomon, it really proclaims a true message for us as followers of Christ. Because of God’s love for us, He has made Jesus King of kings over us. Revelation 11:17 says,
“We give thanks to you, Lord God Almighty,
who is and who was,
for you have taken your great power
and begun to reign.”
We don’t deserve to be under His perfect and life-giving rule. But instead of turning His back on us, He went to the cross. He paid the price to free us from sin, so that we could abide in that most wondrous place of His authority and protection forever.
So, with the example of Hiram, king of Tyre, let’s testify to the truth that God reveals His love for us by making a way for Jesus to be our King. If you’re comfortable commenting, please list things that testify to why Jesus being our King reveals we are one loved people.
