Dealing Patiently With Snags
“Better is the end of a thing than its beginning,
and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit.”
Ecclesiastes 7:8
There are so many things I love about our Savior. He has great compassion. His love cannot be matched. And His patience is amazing.
My favorite thing about vacuuming is being finished. One day, I was almost done vacuuming when the cord snagged on a doorstop. I was not flooded with patience. I was so ready to be done, I wanted to yank the whole thing and deal with the potential destruction later.
It reminds me of my walk with the Lord. So often I want to be finished with something and on to the next. But if the Lord sees a snag, He doesn’t allow me to yank ahead and cause destruction. He is patient and deals with it. As much as I didn’t want to stop vacuuming to correct and move ahead, I did. I am so thankful that rather than always giving me what I want, God is patient enough to keep working on me. In fact, the correction is part of the moving ahead. I’m learning more and more to avoid just enjoying the victories and big opportunities, but enjoy the very journey with the One who touches my heart like no one else can. He is never hurried.
“Rejoice in hope,
be patient in tribulation,
be constant in prayer.”
Romans 12:12
And we urge you, brothers,
admonish the idle,
encourage the fainthearted,
help the weak,
be patient with them all.”
1 Thessalonians 5:14
“The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness,
but is patient toward you,
not wishing that any should perish,
but that all should reach repentance.”
2 Peter 3:9
