A Hunger For His word
If you have lost your passion for God’s Word, ask Him to give you a hunger for it. If someone’s not physically eating, we know there’s a problem. If a believer is not feeding on God’s Word, it also indicates a problem.
His Word is our daily bread. Even when life is no fun, we can still have purpose, hope, and joy in Christ and we need to be hearing from Him. We are promised that God will use trials for our good and His glory, if we acknowledge Him in it. This verse has been an indicator light for me in the area of whether I’m hungry for His Word:
“I rejoice at Your word
As one who finds great treasure.”
Psalm 119:162
Finding great treasure and not rejoicing would mean something is seriously off. When I get in God’s Word which is full of spiritual life and breath, knowledge of Him, promises, direction, secret things, etc. and I read it like a dull manual out of duty, something is off for sure. Let’s ask the Holy Spirit to teach us when we read, and start believing and rejoicing in every Word.
Lord, help us to see clearly the treasure of who You are and what You do. Be glorified, our King, and let the treasure hunt begin!
