Love, Don’t Leave Home Without It

The love of a parent encourages a baby to fly out of the nest, and it’s that same love that makes it hard not to be together. It helps me understand the wonder I can hardly wrap my mind around: God wants to be with us. Our Father’s love caused Him to send His only Son to take on the suffering we deserved, to make it possible for us to be with Him forever.

“But God demonstrates His own love toward us,
in that while we were still sinners,
Christ died for us.”
Romans 5:8

In Secret Power D.L. Moody said, “We cannot serve God, we cannot work for God, unless we have love.” Isn’t that the truth. And we love, when we know we are loved. God loved us first, more, and most. Knowing we’re loved, we can head out healthy and ready to serve.

“Now hope does not disappoint,
because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit
who was given to us.”
Romans 5:5

Faith is assurance, and God’s Word and Holy Spirit assure us of His love. That assurance allows us to serve in the power of love. I read a devotion that used the excitement of a groom seeing His bride on their day, as a reminder of how joyful we should be as believers. We who were once tarnished, are now clothed in white because of His blood. Your Bridegroom loves and rejoices over you with gladness. One with Him, we serve in His love, so that He is glorified and others can know His love, too.
