God With Us!

for December 24, 2025

Our Advent focus verse has been Matthew 1:23,

“‘Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son,

and they shall call his name Immanuel’

(which means, God with us).”

John 1:14 says it like this,

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us,

and we have seen his glory,

glory as of the only Son from the Father,

full of grace and truth.

Just look at what we find in His presence from Psalm 16:11,

“You make known to me the path of life;

in your presence there is fullness of joy;

at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”

What a gift! Jesus told his disciples in John 7:33,

“I will be with you a little longer,

and then I am going to him who sent me.”

He never leaves us. When Jesus died for us and ascended to the Father, He had prepared us ahead of time to know how God would dwell with believers in John 14:16-17,

“And I will ask the Father,

and he will give you another Helper,

to be with you forever,

even the Spirit of truth,

whom the world cannot receive,

because it neither sees him nor knows him.

You know him,

for he dwells with you and will be in you.”

I love the final words of the book of Matthew. As we rejoice that the gift of Jesus is the way for us to be with God He says,

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations,

baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.

And behold,

I am with you always,

to the end of the age.”

Matthew 28:19-20
