Where There Is Christ, There Is Hope!
I remember noticing this tiny flower peeking up between stones. It had been years since I planted impatiens in that courtyard. Yet at some point, a seed had made its way between the cracks of the stones.
I don’t think it’s a coincidence that a friend had just posed a question from the parable of the seed (representing God’s Word) in Mark 4. “What happens if a seed falls on stony ground?” The answer, of course, is that the seed will likely be eaten by birds, and can’t germinate on the stone. Then she said, “What if there were an earthquake and a crack appeared in the stone?” Interesting! Obviously the earth would be exposed and there would be soil for the seed!
God can do anything, and even uses brokenness. He can crack the hardest hearts. As we ask God to keep our hearts tender, let’s not give up praying for those whose hearts may seem hard. He is the God who can turn stone to flesh. I love how Ephesians 2:1-3 reminds us that we once walked in darkness according to the course of this world just like others who choose things targeted for His wrath. Yet Verse 4 continues with, “But God…”
“But God,
being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us,
even when we were dead in our trespasses,
made us alive together with Christ—
by grace you have been saved—“
Ephesians 2:4-5
“With man it is impossible, but not with God.
For all things are possible with God.”
Mark 10:27
Keep praying!
