The Mystery of His Majesty
“The voice of Your thunder was in the whirlwind;
The lightnings lit up the world;
The earth trembled and shook.”
Psalm 77:18
I was driving to the beach when a friend shared a thought before we got off the phone. She mentioned that we’re drawn to the ocean, because it’s powerful, and inviting, and dangerous. It’s calming and created by Him. It reveals His attributes.
I thought of those words when I woke up to a storm over the water. Watching the splendor of lightning, and hearing the awe of thunder over that powerful body of water just added to the wonder. I could not thank God enough for that stunning display.
Our God is glorious.
I can hardly imagine what eternity will be. The mystery of His majesty draws me to know Him more fully.
“For now we see in a mirror dimly,
but then face to face.
Now I know in part;
then I shall know fully,
even as I have been fully known.”
1 Corinthians 13:12
He is preparing us for His full on glory.
Before my beach week ended, I got word that a dear friend and important part of the ministry, had passed away after battling cancer. This was not even two weeks after losing another precious friend to the same disease. Life is stormy, yet it is full of His glory. Because these two knew Him, it assuaged the pain a bit because they were with Him. The Lord is our calm power in the storm. I don’t understand everything that’s happening this side of eternity, but I worship the One who does.
