The Joy of Solid Ground

I saw a meme with images from old TV shows saying, “When I was a kid, I thought that quicksand was going to be a much bigger problem than it was.”

True!

But if only they had warned us of the dangers of spiritual quicksand!

The world is sinking in the mire of false teaching and patting themselves on the back for evolving. Satan is convincing those deceived that they are ahead of the rest, while he belittles and destroys behind their back. 2 Corinthians 11:14 warns that Satan transforms himself into an angel or messenger of light. The world will praise you as a good person if you jump into the quicksand of worldly wisdom. But the solid ground of God’s Word protects us from the evil one. 

Moving from the foundation of Scripture, we wander into spiritually sinking sand where we are no help to anyone. But by standing on the solid ground of truth, we’ll be in a better position to remain safe, and to help others. Truth sets people free. In Matthew 7:24-29, Jesus doesn’t say we are like a wise man who built his house on the rock just because we say we are Christian. He says we will be safe from storms when we hear His sayings and do them. Let’s not flirt with the quicksand, but stand in the stability of true love and true light.

“Therefore take up the whole armor of God,

that you may be able to withstand in the evil day,

and having done all,

to stand.” 

Ephesians 6:13
