Rally To The Sound

Our cars and appliances are loaded with beeps and warnings to help us respond to an issue. We have the option to silence them, but do so at our peril. God has given us spiritual warning bells, and Satan does not want us paying attention. He pressures us to silence them. He encourages us to sound alarms against things that are good.

When Nehemiah and the others were rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem, the enemy was adamant about stopping them. In Nehemiah 4:19-20 he told the people,

“The work is great and widely spread,

and we are separated on the wall, far from one another.

In the place where you hear the sound of the trumpet,

rally to us there.

Our God will fight for us.”

Nehemiah’s enemies would have loved to silence the trumpets. As the world calls evil, good and good, evil, our unifying force is that we continue to call evil, evil and good, good. When we spot the enemy at work, he does not want us to blow the trumpet of truth and sound the alarm. He may use any number of silencing tactics. But we must keep the alarm bells ringing against His schemes.

In the book of Esther, Mordecai told Esther that if she remained silent, relief and deliverance would arise from somewhere else, though it would not go well for her. (Esther 4:14)  Truth will prevail and we want to remain in it, no matter which way the winds of change may be blowing. Bless all of you who continue to stand for truth, even when it’s hard. Lord, give us ears to hear and eyes to see that we might heed Your warnings that keep us spiritually safe. Keep us from leading others astray.
