It’s All Going To Matter, Joseph

Using the phrase from our previous post – it’s all going to matter – let’s apply it to the life of Joseph in the book of Genesis. Why would God allow Joseph to be betrayed and thrown into a pit by his brothers; sold into human trafficking; accused of rape when he was fleeing temptation; falsely accused and sent to prison? We know the end of his story and he was able to say in Genesis 50:20,

“But as for you, you meant evil against me;
but God meant it for good,
in order to bring it about as it is this day,
to save many people alive.”

God’s plan for Joseph included being the second most powerful human on the planet in order to save many lives from a famine; to get the family of Israel where it needed to be to birth them as a nation out of Egypt. God is always working on multifaceted levels. There are so many ways God could have gotten Joseph to his assignment. But He did it via a plan that exposed evil in the hearts of his brothers and others along the way. It was necessary.

God gave Joseph dreams to sustain Him. He kept him in the hardest of times. He allowed him to suffer to bring about great Kingdom gain. Joseph was given the privilege of partnering with the Most High. Christ offers that same privilege today. I wonder if something like this might have run through Joseph’s mind, “It’s all going to matter, Joseph.”

If you’re a believer in Christ, fill in your name, “It’s all going to matter, ________________. Every bit of this has weight and will be used for your good and God’s glory.” Yes, even that.

There is always hope in Him.
