Consider This

Painting by Janet Carpenter

A dear friend painted this for my birthday. The Scripture on the back is one of my favorites,

“Consider the lilies, how they grow:

they neither toil nor spin;

and yet I say to you,

even Solomon in all his glory

was not arrayed like one of these.”

Luke 12:27

What a precious reminder that God wants us to rest and rejoice in His care. The other morning, I had been meditating on this verse while I looked at the paining. Then I read Psalm 9 and Verse 13 popped out,

“Have mercy on me, O LORD!

Consider my trouble from those who hate me,

You who lift me up from the gates of death…”

It prompted me to pray, “Lord, You consider my trouble, and I will consider the lillies!” What a glorious exchange. What a good, good God we serve! Lord, help us to take full advantage of all You have done for us – purchased for us – through the cross!
