Believing His Promises: Romans 8:28

The plan for some posts ahead will be to take a promise of God that we can mediate on, but not stop there. The idea is to live each day actually believing it. This is an important exercise and priority in spiritual warfare. We serve a God who is so loving and wondrous that He saves us, never leaves us, and gives us promises to keep us assured throughout our journeys…even if we don’t see the fulfillment this side of eternity. He loves to be believed.

Today’s promise:

John Newton (1725-1807), author of the hymn Amazing Grace, worded it like this, “He has connected their good with his own glory, and is engaged, by promise, to make all things work together for their advantage.”

Upon hearing a hard diagnosis while battling cancer, a friend would say to himself, “I wonder how this is being used for good, because I know it is.” What an example!

There is a time to grieve, obviously. But if we’re in a hard place, or something hard hits today, what if we were quick to believe; to know even through tears, that it has only been allowed for our advantage to the glory of God! What if we thank God for that, as we ask Him for His help? What if we form habits like this, so the enemy is less likely to get any headway in our hearts and minds when circumstances are unthinkable?

Would love to hear how it goes. Lord, teach us!
