Choose To Be Well-Watered!
“For you will be like an oak whose leaf fades away
Or as a garden that has no water.”
Isaiah 1:30
What a travesty, when one could have been a strong, well-watered tree planted by the Lord for His glory! Psalm 1:1-3 says,
“Blessed is the man
who walks not in the counsel of the wicked,
nor stands in the way of sinners,
nor sits in the seat of scoffers;
but his delight is in the law of the LORD,
and on his law he meditates day and night.
He is like a tree
planted by streams of water
that yields its fruit in its season,
and its leaf does not wither.
In all that he does, he prospers.”
There’s a stunning moment recorded in Luke 4 when Jesus stood up and read prophecy of Himself from Isaiah 61:1-3,
“The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me,
because the LORD has anointed me
to bring good news to the poor;
he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim liberty to the captives,
and the opening of the prison to those who are bound;
to proclaim the year of the LORD’s favor,
and the day of vengeance of our God;
to comfort all who mourn;
to grant to those who mourn in Zion—
to give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes,
the oil of gladness instead of mourning,
the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit;
that they may be called oaks of righteousness,
the planting of the LORD, that he may be glorified.”
We were created to glorify God, but sin caused us to be oaks with fading leaves and dry gardens. Then Jesus came! And we were offered continual living water by the only One who can restore us to our original purpose; revealing His wonder by cleansing us, saving us, setting us free, helping us, healing us, guiding us, and walking with us. Praise Him!
