Choose Sides Carefully

“But the LORD is the true God;

he is the living God and the everlasting King.

At his wrath the earth quakes,

and the nations cannot endure his indignation.”
Jeremiah 10:10

When I asked my brother if I could use his owl experience from the previous post, his reply added another truth. He said he got way up close and personal with the owl. It had piercing eyes, a swiveling head, a hooked beak, and seriously sharp talons. The owl didn’t try to claw him, but had a death grip on the barbed wire fence. My brother had to pry the talons off. When He did, they went right through his thick leather work gloves. So, the owl can provide protection or death. He went on to say, “Choose sides carefully my friend.”

In love and protection, God warns us to separate from things targeted for His wrath. Some will tell you that because God is love, He is tolerant of everything. That’s not love, that’s dangerous. He saves, sets free, and protects under His wing those who come to Him through Jesus Christ. His “talons” tear evil to pieces. With Him on our side, who can be against us?  (See Romans 8:31.)  Lord thank you for loving us and protecting us from the evil one.

“And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the LORD,

choose this day whom you will serve,

whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River,

or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell.

But as for me and my house,

we will serve the LORD.”
