A King Who Covers

Winter storms can be rough, but there’s something beautiful and stilling about a snow covered scene.  With photos of snow all over, let’s focus on this word “covered.”

God uses snow in His Word to help us understand how He cleanses us from sin through the blood of Jesus. When we repent, He blots it out as if it never happened. As if it never happened! There may still be consequences, but He will even use those, if we’ll let Him. Isaiah 1:18 says,

“Come now, let us reason together, says the LORD:

though your sins are like scarlet,

they shall be as white as snow;

though they are red like crimson,

they shall become like wool.”

God doesn’t just cleanse us, but proceeds to cover us. That’s what I love about snow being that picture of His forgiving power. Snow covers. When Jesus was transfigured on a mountain in front of some of His disciples, they described His clothes as white as snow. When we are saved, He covers us so that we can be described like Him, and like those in Revelation 7:14b who, “…washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.” We give Him our sin, and He gives us His righteousness. That is an indescribable exchange.

Jesus. There’s nothing like Him. Snuggle in to the wonder of His love and take full advantage of your freedom. If you’ve received His gift of salvation, just picture your glorious King putting that robe of righteousness on your forgiven shoulders. He has got you covered. What a joy to serve such a King.
