God With Us!

for December 17-18, 2025

Jesus came to reconcile us to the Father, our Creator. Psalm 5:4 says,

“For you are not a God who delights in wickedness;

evil may not dwell with you.”

God wants to dwell with mankind, but will not dwell in wickedness. We come to Christ as we are, but we don’t stay that way. He cleanses us and we are new creations! We are being sanctified to become more like Jesus.

Isaiah 66:1-2 is one of many passages that tell us who God looks upon as He desires to dwell with man,

“Thus says the LORD:

‘Heaven is my throne,

and the earth is my footstool;

what is the house that you would build for me,

and what is the place of my rest?

All these things my hand has made,

and so all these things came to be,

declares the LORD.

But this is the one to whom I will look:

he who is humble and contrite in spirit

and trembles at my word.’”

All things were created through Jesus yet He is described as humble and lowly. As we come to Christ and enjoy fellowship with the Father, we should be growing – not in trying to impress people – but in humility where we find the pleasure of God as we seek to do His will.

“He has told you, O man, what is good;

and what does the LORD require of you

but to do justice, and to love kindness,

and to walk humbly with your God?”

Micah 6:8

1 Peter 5:5b says,

“Clothe yourselves, all of you,

with humility toward one another,

for ‘God opposes the proud

but gives grace to the humble.’”

Immanuel, thank You for coming and cleansing us from the horror of pride to clothe us in humility.
