The Speaker We Need To Hear
Just think of all the highly paid speakers we have, or how exciting it can be to hear a dignitary or celebrity when given the chance. So looking at the beginning of the book of Hebrews, the second verse jumps out,
“1 God, who at various times and in various ways
spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets,
2 has in these last days spoken to us by His Son,
whom He has appointed heir of all things,
through whom also He made the worlds.”
In these last days He has spoken to us by His Son. You talk about hearing a Dignitary!
One thing current events make clear is that we need more than what we’re hearing from people. If you haven’t started this discipline already or need to pick it back up, spending time daily reading God’s Word to really hear from Him is an incomparable opportunity. What is He saying, and what is He saying to you personally as you read? Ask the Holy Spirit to teach and guide you, because when the Creator graciously chooses to speak to the likes of us, we would be wise to get still and listen. Oh, how God loves you! Oh, the things He wants to say to you through His Son!
“You who still the noise of the seas,
The noise of their waves,
And the tumult of the peoples.”
Psalm 65:7
Lord, still the tumult and thank you for speaking! May we stop and listen.
