Preparing for Departure

We know how overwhelming it can be when preparing for back to back trips. Yesterday, we had the joy of celebrating the resurrection of the only One who could conquer sin and death. Preparing your heart for communion, you might have heard 1 Corinthians 11:23-26,

“For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you,

that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread,

and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said,

‘This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.’

In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying,

‘This cup is the new covenant in my blood.

Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.’

For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup,

you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes."

How stunning that the Passover Lamb served at the table before becoming the sacrifice. As Jesus prepared for His departure, He didn’t forget a thing. Among so much more, He instituted communion so that we would remember that He came in the flesh to suffer and die to save us. His departure meant the arrival of the Holy Spirit who helps us.

Today He is preparing for His arrival as King of kings, because our Savior rose again! And we can be sure He has not forgotten a thing. Thank You, Lord, for always making us ready as we abide in You.

“But, as it is written,

‘What no eye has seen, nor ear heard,

nor the heart of man imagined,

what God has prepared for those who love him’— ”
1 Corinthians 2:9
