More Truth for Paralyzing Times
As we continue in Matthew 9, Jesus told the paralyzed man that his sins were forgiven because of his faith. But when the Kingdom of God is advancing, we can be sure Satan will oppose it. The enemy often uses willing people who think they know better than God. My words will be in italics as we walk through Matthew 9:3-8,
“And behold, some of the scribes said to themselves,
‘This man is blaspheming.’”
An unbeliever does not appreciate Jesus’ ability to forgive sins. They would have left the man without hope or help.
“But Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said,
‘Why do you think evil in your hearts?’”
I love that Jesus knows hearts and calls evil, evil. Deciding that the true Christ is the villain is evil.
“‘For which is easier, to say,
“Your sins are forgiven,” or to say, “Rise and walk”?
But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins’
—he then said to the paralytic—
‘Rise, pick up your bed and go home.’
And he rose and went home.”
Whatever has you feeling paralyzed, Jesus wants to set you free to rise and serve Him in freedom. The One with the power to forgive sins, can easily set you free from anything that hinders. We have a choice. Even after God verified Jesus’ words with a miracle, the religious leaders would still stand opposed. But I love the effect He had on the people, bringing fear of God that caused rejoicing.
“When the crowds saw it, they were afraid,
and they glorified God,
who had given such authority to men."
God has a plan for paralyzing times and so does Satan. Keep looking to and crying out to the Lord for true freedom.
