He Entered To Rescue
Parents in their right minds would dive into the deepest ocean or walk through fire to rescue their children. We wouldn’t wait for them to get to us. Our love for them would compel us forward right into the thick of things.
God’s love caused Him to enter this fallen world to rescue us. Galatians 4:4-6 says,
“But when the fullness of time had come,
God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law,
to redeem those who were under the law,
so that we might receive adoption as sons.
And because you are sons,
God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts,
crying, ‘Abba! Father!’”
God didn’t wait for us to get to Him – that would have been impossible. He met us where we were, desperately needing rescue from the bondage of sin and death. He was born of a woman, like us. He was born under the law into this fallen world, like us. He entered and rescued us right where we were to break the chains that bound us and grant us adoption; entrance into our Father’s eternal Kingdom through the cross.
Years ago I had the joy of praying for a family adopting two older boys from China. After much prayer, time, money, paperwork, travel, and effort, the time came for the father to go get his boys. He made the trek to go to where they were, and officially receive his boys to himself. Those boys now have a precious family. What a picture of what our great Rescuer did for us.
Meditate on the love that Your Savior has for you. If you have not yet trusted Christ for salvation, may today be the day you become His child!
