God With Us!

for December 5-7, 2025

After sin entered and marred God’s glorious beauty and order, we see Him move to execute the rescue plan. His desire is to be with humans created in His image; humans created to spread and magnify His glory across creation. We’ve already seen that rather than leave us, He moved in to save us.

In this sin-scarred world, we will have trouble. He wants to dwell with us even there. So He sent Jesus.

“‘Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son,

and they shall call his name Immanuel’

(which means, God with us).”

Matthew 1:23

Look what our Creator and King says in Isaiah 43:2,

“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;

and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you;

when you walk through fire you shall not be burned,

and the flame shall not consume you.”

If that’s not faith building, I don’t know what is. He even uses these hard things to strengthen us! He is always ready to give a kick in the teeth to the enemy of our souls. Isaiah 41:10 says,

“…fear not, for I am with you;

be not dismayed, for I am your God;

I will strengthen you, I will help you,

I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

Whether it’s harm done to us or our own repented sin, God is able to use it all to glorify His name, secure us in His love, and grow us in the likeness of Christ. As we celebrate Jesus being born as a human to save us, we are comforted by Hebrews 13:5b,

“I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

The One who wants to be with us is with us until the end and forevermore. Praise to Immanuel!
