A Sure Investment

It’s no fun to realize we missed out on a great investment, or made one that brought loss. But it’s a great feeling to make an investment that really pays off.

Jesus teaches a parable that thankfully leaves us shaking in our boots at the thought of not investing what He’s given us into His Kingdom. (See Matthew 25:14-30) It shows joy for those servants who did invest, and sorrow for the one who opted out. The one who buried what the master gave him to invest, was cast out as unprofitable. Satan continually attempts to make God’s servants unprofitable, because he does not want God’s Kingdom to prosper. But God’s Kingdom does! And we are invited to be a part.

Fully investing our lives into His glorious Kingdom is the greatest opportunity we’ll ever have. It will cause us to be the people we need to be for those around us, and will bring pleasure to our gracious King. We serve a merciful God who can turn even our bad life investments into spiritual plunder through repentance and forgiveness. Relationship with the One who holds our breath in His hands will catapult us into living lives that invest in the eternal Kingdom.

“Therefore, my beloved brothers,

be steadfast, immovable,

always abounding in the work of the Lord,

knowing that in the Lord

your labor is not in vain.”

1 Corinthians 15:58
