Journeying in Genesis: What Voice Has Our Ear?

Such treasure in Genesis 1:3! Today, let’s focus on the One who spoke it, and consider whose voice we are hearing.

The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ is the Creator and Ruler over everything. Romans 4:17 says that He, “…gives life to the dead and calls into existence the things that do not exist.”

His Word is power. His Word is effective. Hebrews 4:12 says,

“For the word of God is living and active,

sharper than any two-edged sword,

piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow,

and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”

Now consider this warning from Psalm 36:1,

“Transgression speaks to the wicked

deep in his heart;

there is no fear of God

before his eyes.”

Transgression speaks…

Not everyone is listening to the Voice that brings light and life. Jesus said in John 10:27-28,

“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.

I give them eternal life, and they will never perish,

and no one will snatch them out of my hand.”

2 Corinthians 4:4-6 suddenly makes so much sense, “In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. For God, who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness,’ has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.”

Lord make us desperate for the light of Your Word. May we hear, love, receive, and share it!
